Hobart, IN - The College of Court Reporting (CCR) in Hobart, Indiana, has proved that court reporting students who take classes online can and do successfully complete the court reporting program. CCR recently had three women achieve their exit speeds! Truly, this is a great accomplishment for these very hard working students.
Three years ago, Madison Area Technical College's judicial reporting/broadcast captioning program initiated a series of get together events for reporting students and area working reporters called "Connecting to the Profession."
Prince Institute was founded in 1976 by Sara Prince, a teacher and former machine shorthand court reporter for the United States Air Force. In its second year of operation, Mrs. Prince was joined by her husband, Charles, whose background in business administration and education added significant strength to the institute.
The Gadsden State Community College Court Reporting program started its first class in 1974. Marie Whitaker is to be thanked for that. Mrs. Whitaker read about available funds to start court reporting programs and thought it sounded interesting. The then Gadsden State Junior College applied and received those funds. With lots of hard work from the first director, Robert C. Miller, along with Mrs. Whitaker, the first class started in 1974.
We are proud to say that as a school we are active members of our local community as well as the court reporting community. Wearing our Sage College T-shirts and sweatshirts, our students and staff can be seen at every CSR exam, the annual MS Walks, career fairs, Chamber of Commerce meetings, and other events that take place in our community.
